The Bay of Islands Food and Wine Festival celebrates the exceptional food and drink culture of Te Tai Tokerau Northland in one of New Zealand's most beautiful settings — the Bay of Islands, where kauri-forested headlands meet sparkling water and a community with deep roots in both Māori and colonial history. Held in Paihia each year, it brings together local producers, chefs and winemakers alongside visitors who come for the food and stay for everything the Bay has to offer.

Northland's food culture is distinctive — shaped by its subtropical climate, its Māori food traditions, its fishing heritage and a growing community of artisan producers who have found in the region's warmth and fertility the conditions for exceptional food and drink. The festival showcases this culture in a programme of tastings, dinners, masterclasses and market events that give visitors direct access to the people and the produce of the north.

For visitors to the Bay of Islands — already one of New Zealand's most compelling destinations for its scenery, its history and its maritime character — the Food and Wine Festival adds a culinary dimension that enriches any visit. It is the kind of regional food event that connects you to a place through its flavours, leaving you with a deeper understanding of what makes Northland special.
